Alan M. Herbst has over 20 years experience in energy market fundamental analysis, infrastructure
development, commodity pricing, commercial trading and risk management in the oil, natural gas
and power sectors. In recent years, Alan has focused his efforts on: shale gas, LNG and oil sands
development, renewable energy, nuclear power, distributed generation and environmental/regulatory
issues. He has also acted as a shale gas production expert witness in New York State Bankruptcy
Court. Alan previously held positions with SNL Energy and was the US Energy Practice Manager for
Datamonitor. He is the co-author of "Nuclear Energy Now," a book on US nuclear power development,
and appears frequently as an on-air industry expert for various media outlets and has had more than
25 energy articles and studies published. Alan has an MBA in Finance/International Business from
New York University’s Stern School of Business and Bachelors degrees in History and Biology
from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
